The Tongole Foundation

The Tongole Foundation is a charity working to meet the economic, social and environmental needs of the most vulnerable communities within Africa and more specifically the Nkhotakota district of Malawi.

The Tongole Foundation is currently working with three schools in the area; The Mwalawatongole F.P. School, Wozi J.P. School and Chankhokwe F.P. School.

The Tongole Foundation is partnered with Pack for a Purpose.

Pack for a Purpose is an innovative way in which visitors to Tongole Wilderness Lodge can help with the work of the Foundation.

People visiting poorer countries often wish they could make meaningful contributions to help meet the needs of the places they visit.

Pack for a Purpose helps travellers do just that. Pack for a Purpose ask travellers to pack 5 lbs. (2.27 kgs) of supplies for community based projects and drop them off at their holiday destination where they will be collected. There are supply lists, on their website, not only for our projects in Malawi but for destinations far and wide. The lists are provided directly by the local community-based projects that will receive them, enabling travellers to make informed decisions and bring items which meet the needs of the people who will be using them.
